Round up, Round up! February's edition of Scrawls is here! “Umm… It’s March” I hear you say, and to that, I say “Is it really, and more importantly, does it matter?”
I’ll round up my favorite submissions, including our first ever from the ‘Non-Fiction’ folder! Hooray for learning!
First up - Non-Fiction
Absurd Influences - EnlightenU
As a keen historian, especially when it comes to Ancient Civilisations, I was pleased when I saw this christening our brand-spanking new Non-fiction folder. Not only is this well informed, but it’s also easy to read. It shouldn’t baffle any Mesoamerican/Egyptian ignorant readers (Too much). EnlightenU’s argument is plausible, and above all, interesting. Whether a historian or not, you could learn something from this, and learning is what makes humans so special.
Numero dos - Prose
Not, actually, a busker - Retrospecs95
Myself and friend of mine go busking quite often (As I’m primarily a musician - Bass to be precise) and it really is an amazing experience. Even more so when people seem to enjoy it, and money in the guitar case sweetens the deal. I think Retrospecs95 has captured the magic of busking even though he’s not, actually, a busker. Music is language by itself, and those that are fluent in it speak their innermost thoughts through it, so who knows whether the not-busker was acknowledging his watcher through a language they didn’t understand?
Le numéro trois - Poetry
Mud Luver - QuiEstInLiteris
How I miss the days of frolicking in the mud after nap time. Mud Luver brings back the childhood memories of how the rain was never a bad sign, but simply the bringer of muck-sodden joy. QuiEstInLiteris has changed the perspective to an adult rather than a child, which adds a strange yet enjoyable feeling for the reader.
LE FOUR - Prosetry
Supervisor - deaflogorrhea
I’m not sure what drew me to this piece, but for some reason it stuck in my mind while reading the others, especially the line ‘Citrus beverage to quench your anxiety’. I do not why, or how this line has caught my attention so much, it just has. deaflogorrhea has quite clearly communicated something to me, but what is unknown. Maybe that was the point? But I digress. Read this, because it’s good. You get me?
ZE ONE AFTER FOUR - Chapters
Oh no… There aren’t actually any submitted in here for Feb, so I’ll go back and pick one from Jan that nearly made the list that time.
Grimoire C13: De Vindicta Tenebrae - Sir-Jayke
After three tries, he’s on the list! Hoorah! I’ve been wanting to feature a piece of Sir-Jayke’s Grimoire series since the first edition, but there has always been something in the way. No more! He seems to think this bit isn’t the best, and it isn’t (I like C1-4 the most). But this is actually quite an enjoyable snippet of the larger work, that I follow closely. It reminds me of authors like Brent Weeks & Adrian Tchaikovosky, who I regard highly. I’m featuring this chapter, but be sure to read the entire series if you’re a fan of fantasy fiction. Go on, I dare you.
The Sixth - Fanfiction
The Adventures of Hans and Crawley: The Beginning - WARHUNTERKILLER
I’m not entirely sure what this is a fan fiction of, (Warhammer I think) but I enjoyed it none the less. It’s written well and clearly, as well as being interesting to the ignorant like myself. I wish the fan fiction folder had more pieces like this and it would be absolutely brilliant - Now I’m not belittling fan fiction writers, but I find so many pieces so similar, it was truly gratifying to find something different & interesting.
7 (My lucky number) - Mature
G
Because - :devxpaperbutterflyx:
This is a damned powerful piece of writing, with extensive & imaginative metaphors that bring this to life in a way that few pieces have managed. I’m not really sure what to say about it.. Just read it. Please, and you’ll believe me.
Closing Comments & Other Information
Thank you for reading this far, and I do hope you’ve visited some of the deviations I’ve featured here, but there are a few quick things before you go.
As you know, we’ve been trying to get enough points to get supergroup status, so please listen to our plea - There are over 1,700 of us, so if everyone donates just two points, we’ll be able to get supergroup status. Remember, it’s a benefit for you, as it will make people from outside the group more likely to see your submissions. Donate to Leona629, as she’s the one holding our stash of points.
Please, please give up a few minutes to read through some of the deviations I’ve written about, as they are truly brilliant.
Anyone who has a few minutes, please look through the ‘To be Critiqued’ folder, as there are some pieces in there long overdue to have some feedback.
I’ll be returning next month, so if there are any pieces that really jump out at you, and you think deserve a feature this month, send me a note and I’ll give it a look over.

Scrawls - 4th Edition
Round up, Round up! March’s edition of Scrawls is here! Still here with my uniform lateness, I hope you enjoy the submissions I’ve chosen. If you’re not here this time, be sure to hate mail me :)
First up - Non-Fiction
DISCLAIMER#1 (OR HOW TO WRITE A NOVEL) - Evil-Nj (https://www.deviantart.com/evil-nj)
A keen writer myself, I’m always open to improvement. So when I saw this, I was like: “OHMYJESUSYAYNOWMYNOVELWILLBEBETTER!” (Which, by the way, you can read here: http://theonetheyleftbehind.deviantart.com/art/Where-Darkened-Clouds-Roll-Chapter-1-269867104) After reading and weeping in a corner for a good half an hour, I reali

Scrawls Edition #02 - 12th February 2012
Men, Women, Children & others of all ages, the waiting is over! Finally The January round up of #Scribblers-Anonymous (https://www.deviantart.com/scribblers-anonymous) has been completed! Read on to find my favorite pieces that were submitted in January! Hoorah!
Round One:
Prose - The Divine Inheritance by ThornyEnglishRose (https://www.deviantart.com/thornyenglishrose)
The Divine Inheritance is quite the interesting concept, and I didn’t quite understand it the first time round. After I read it again I started to see the gem that was hidden under a few minor grammatical mistakes, and I loved it! Based around the ‘sight’ one of the girls has, she can speak to the gh

Scrawls Edition #01 - 5th January 2012
Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls!
Here you are to witness the glorious rebirth of the old news article Scribbles, only know, it’s Scrawls!
I’ve taken over, and it’s time to set things straight. This’ll be a monthly/bi-monthly round up of anything that stands out among our gallery, and what better way to begin than with a round up of 2011?
First up,
Prose:
kjod5 (https://www.deviantart.com/kjod5) - Scout's Honor
Scout’s Honor was a piece that jumped out at me for it’s sheer feel-good factor. It was a piece of literature that made me smile not for some dark and twisted phrase that made m

YES! Sweet, sweet recognition! In your face, in all your faces! Mwahahahahahhh!
Okay, okay, in all seriousness I am greatly humbled by my inclusion on this list. I'm so pleased with this, you can't imagine my glee, I literally jumped from my seat and gave myself a joyous applause. This is my first time being featured in any group of this sort, after six months of trying and exponential growth as a writer I've finally been featured.
You guys are awesome, I'm proud to be a member and a critic for this group. Thank you.
